These lamps are available in all wattages from 50 watts to the 1500 watt this light bulb is also used for sports lighting. HID can be used for industrial lighting in wall packs, high bay lighting, low bay lighting. Metal halide has become the most versatile type of lighting in the HID family.
HID light bulbs require a special fixture and ballast for each type and wattage. The bulb wattage must be matched to the ballast rating. To small a bulb and over heating could occur with disastrous effect. To large a bulb and the life of the bulb will be shortened and may not light up. This can lead to early ballast failure.
